Life at school

Environmental collaboration with Bowling 1 Elverum

The elective course Action Research started an environmental competition this year on the housing groups, where the goal was to make small changes in everyday life that could reduce greenhouse gas emissions at school. The main prize was sponsorship of free bowling tickets.

House group competition

To help reduce the climate footprint at the school, the elective course Action Research started a housing group competition to make students more aware of how they could save the environment in everyday life at the folk high school. Each house group was given a table with different challenges that they had to fill in as they completed the tasks during the week. Each challenge implies a score based on the difficulty of the task.

The goal was for as many people as possible to complete as many tasks as possible. The prize went to the house group that had collected the most points by number of people. The competition was held twice during the winter and the house group that received the most points in total won the main prize, which was sponsored tickets to Bowling 1 in Elverum. This year it was the boarding school Eidsvoll Øst that won!

Collaboration with Bowling 1 Elverum

We considered current candidates who could think of giving a tempting enough prize that the students would work extra hard to be environmentally friendly. When we received a positive response from Bowling 1 that they could consider contributing to a green project at the folk high school, we were very happy. Unfortunately, many from the house group were away on the very day the bowling took place, but those who were there had a great experience.
Many thanks to Bowling 1 for their cooperation!
