Snowboard / Freeski

Interview with Silke and Nizo on Snowboard / Freeski

Nicolas Nizo Storms

Age: 20 years
Nickname: Nizo
Comes from: Nesodden
Ski or board: Snowboard

Why did you apply for Snowboard / Freeski?
The reason I applied for Snowboard / freeski is because all my friends were moving away from Nesodden, and I did not know what I wanted, so I thought it was a great way to experience something new, as well as get to know new people. Fun fact: actually applied just a week before school started!

How long have you been standing?
Stood a lot on the board before, probably since primary school, but then I took a break between the end of middle school, and now. Have missed it very much!

What are your goals for attending folk high school?
My goals will probably be to become more comfortable socially, and get back the joy of snowboarding. I also had a desire to become good at skateboarding and learn tricks. As previously mentioned, I also aimed to make new friends. Everyone who has gone to folk high school says that this is what you should do, so most of all I just wanted to have fun with fellow students.

How does it feel when you stand on the ground?

The feeling on the ground is fantastic, some music to my ear and nice weather, then I can not ask for anything better.

Every time I have to jump and do a trick or something, I have to find the right song, for the feeling to be complete!

How is the social on the line?
It's nice to be with people who have the same interest as me. We have a lot of fun together, and every time someone has a birthday we go bowling and eat pizza to holiday the person, it's always great! It is a good counterbalance to a lot of energy and boyish mood.

What are you "working on" on the ground at the moment?
Nowadays I work on landing BS double cork 1080.

Silke Termansen

Age: 21 years
Nickname: Hahah nothing, just Silk
Comes from: Varde in Denmark
Ski or board: Snowboard

Why did you apply for Snowboard / Freeski?
I chose snowboarding / freeskiing to develop myself, especially in the park, as I know it's a big part of the line here. I was also just looking for the Norwegian nature, and would generally like to spend more time on the hill.

How long have you been standing?
I have been skiing for about 5 years and snowboarding for about 6-7 years.

What are your goals for attending folk high school?
My goals in going to folk high school are to create new relationships and develop myself - get a greater acquaintance with Norway and culture - try out a lot of new things - maybe find some answers to what should happen after 😉

How does it feel when you stand on the ground?
When I'm on the ground, I'm very happy. There is always a good atmosphere, so the mood rises! It's cool to know that you spend your time on something you think is the coolest!

How is the social on the line?
The line is great and everyone is in a good mood, which is contagious.

Everyone is open and takes care of everyone - so being social is perfect. Often a goofy mood, which everyone enjoys. It's just splendid!

What are you "working on" on the ground at the moment?
Right now I spend time learning rails and boxing - among other things. boardslide - then I also have to practice on my 180 😎
