The first weeks on Snowboard/Freeski
A look at what snowboarding/freeskiing has been up to in the lead up to the fall break
Blog post from the Snowboard/Freeski line at Elverum Folk High School
Autumn is well underway, and we at the snowboard/freeski line have already managed to fill the weeks with action, mastery and lots of laughter!
We started the semester with wakeboarding in Hamar – a perfect way to get to know the dynamics of the water and the balance needed on a board. Then we headed to the skate park, where both beginners and experienced skaters could challenge themselves on the skateboard.
Surfing was also on the plan – we traveled to Hoddevik with backpackers/extreme sports where we enjoyed feeling the waves and working on our board skills on the water.
Trampolining and gymnastics have also been on the schedule – not just because it's fun, but because it gives us body control and confidence in the air.
To stay injury-free throughout the winter, we actively work on injury prevention training and yoga. It gives us strength, agility and mental focus – invaluable when it comes to landing new tricks!
One of the highlights so far has been the trip to SNØOslo – Norway's coolest indoor ski and snowboard facility. Here we got to test rails, jumps and carving on real snow, in the middle of September!
Stay tuned, because there is always something happening here!
