The Norwegian Culture/Adventure line runs dog sledding.
Norwegian is visiting the renowned dog driver Stein Håvard Fjestad and his wife, Siri, on their farm in Tufsingdalen. We are greeted by 50 highly trained and eager huskies who are very much ready for cuddles and activity.
We get to know the dogs, have fun with them and help harness the dogs in a dog sled before we rush off into the magnificent nature of Tufsingdal. It is real winter weather (cold and good) and a brilliant trail. The dogs are super eager and happy when they realize they are going on a walk.
We have a great time both on the sled ride, but also around the campfire where we grill sausages and listen to Stein Håvard tell us about his life as a dog sledder.
We learn a lot about dogs, dog sledding and what is required when you have 50 dogs to feed, groom and train.
Super veteran Stein Håvard will soon participate in the Finnmarksløpet for the 20th time with his dogs!!!! The Finnmarksløpet is considered Europe's toughest dog race (length 1.243 kilometers). We are grateful that we get to come here and experience a small part of Stein Håvard's and Siri's adventure.
