Life at school

Join Norwegian to Southwest Norway

Norwegian Culture and Adventure is on its first study tour in Norway. They took the trip to South-West Norway and here are some of the attractions they visited. You should too!

Heddal Stave Church

This is Norway's largest remaining stave church. It is 20 meters long and 26 meters high. It was probably built in the middle of the 1200th century, but this is somewhat uncertain. Some parts of the church are older and some younger. A runic inscription has also been found in the choir which is dated to 1167, and this is interpreted as a dedication inscription.

The church was built in the transition from pagan faith to Christianity, which is reflected in the use of symbols and motifs. This is an exciting mix and perhaps it was wise to stay inside with both the old and the new god?

It looks like it's made out of popcicle sticks!

Pupil in that she saw Heddal Stavkirke for the first time from a long distance.
Dalen Hotel

Dalen Hotell is a historic hotel built in 1894 and is located next to the Telemark Canal. The hotel is built in Swiss/dragon style and the architect found inspiration in, among other things, the Viking Age and stave churches. Dalen Hotell became a sought-after hotel and famous guests and royalty from all over the world have visited the hotel since its opening. The Norwegian class was given a tour of the hotel and tested out the fantastic restaurant on the veranda in warm September weather.

Pulpit and Pulpit Basecamp

After a fantastic trip to Preikestolen, a warm, floating sauna and swimming awaited down at Preikestolen Basecamp.

Lindesnes Lighthouse

Norway's oldest lighthouse on the southern tip of Norway. Here you will find a museum that takes you through some of Norway's coastal and lighthouse history. You can also go up to the lighthouse and enjoy the view.

The Oil Museum

Norway is an oil nation. In Stavanger you will find the Norwegian Oil Museum. Here the students learned about oil history, oil policy and the environmental perspective today. Right next to the Oil Museum you will also find the Geopark, made from things used in the oil industry. Good photo spot!

Honorable mentions that we also visited:
