Backpacker/Extreme sports tests the Via Ferrata

Viewpoint Via Ferrata

After spending several days in the wet element, read Sjoa, the gang sets course for Valdresflya, Here there is a fantastic mountain peak in the middle between the beautiful mountain lakes Bygdin and Vinstre. Synshorn rises majestically and appears both high and steep from the car park. After a short introduction and instruction on equipment and climbing technique, we take a short drink break and set off on the wall.

The climbing wall is both high and steep, but we quickly gain height meters. The view improves with every meter of altitude that is climbed. Halfway through we have a small snack and drink break. The last half offers varied climbing, where you have to use both arms and legs sensibly. The vast majority of people who climbed Synshorn today probably mostly looked up and planned the next step, rather than looking down and taking in both the steepness and the distance to the starting level.

Strong wind at the top today meant that we only took a few quick photos and waited with lunch until we were back on the school bus.
