Art / Experiences paints self-portraits with oil paint

Oil painting is demanding and extensive, but all the more amusing when you see it grow a face that resembles oneself.

With skilled guidance from artist Kari Nordnes, the students worked with oil painting this week. Palettes with the "Zorn colors" - that is, white, black, cadmium red and yellow ocher - were all they needed to mix the colors and denominations they needed to transfer themselves on an A3 plate.

"Focus on what you see, not what you know"

This was an important experience for many. And after many hours of work - not everyone finished - and layer upon layer of paint, it was a happy bunch who could see that they mastered this.
