A new Van Gogh?

Art/Experiences learn by imitating

"Imitation is not just the sincerest form of flattery, it's the sincerest form of learning" George Bernard Shaw

After watching "Loving Vincent" and talking a little about how Vincent van Gogh's style changed in line with his psyche, the students each chose a picture to recreate. They were only allowed to use a medium-sized brush, palette knife and acrylic paint.

To become good at painting, you have to practice seeing. Therefore, the students first spent time studying the picture they chose. What are the main colors in the picture? What denomination are the shadows? What is the foreground, middle ground and background in the picture?

The best tip when trying to recreate a picture, copy the picture in the same size as the canvas and divide the picture into squares. Then it becomes easier to place shapes, lines and correct proportions.

We agreed that we liked some of the pictures better than the original painting, so it could be that a new and modern van Gogh is being formed in this year's art collection?
