Barcelona + streetart = true
Art / Experiences were charmed by a lot of different street art in the big city
Spray and stencils
Before we went on a study trip, we worked with spray paint and stencils and learned that it takes practice to get good control of the paint. With this in mind, it was all the more impressive to see how beautiful and detailed many of the murals in Barcelona were.
We walked through the districts 'Raval', 'El Born' and the 'Gothic Quarter' and looked at a wide variety of street art. From Pablo Picasso's graffiti, via Keith Haring's murial, to Joan Fontcuberta's impressive 'Kiss of freedom' which consists of 6000 freedom snapshots on mosaic tiles.
We discovered many installations of soda cans, red dots and learned about a local project where they took pictures of homeless people who were transferred to 'paste ups'. Everyone wants to be seen, even those who are often overlooked in everyday life.
