10 things to learn
The rivers at Art/Experiences have a lot to look forward to this autumn
The art students at Elverum folkehøyskole have a rich week ahead of them.
1. Knife making. We start the year by shaping a knife and sewing a sheath for it.
2. Redesign of ola pants. After a few days at Glittertind together with the rest of the school, we continue to make a work apron out of a pair of jeans
3. Turning ceramics. We are visited by a ceramist who guides us in the exciting turning technique.
4. Form glass balls. On this autumn's trip to Lofoten, we spend one day in Glasshytta in Kabelvåg, where we learn how to heat glass into beautiful balls with different patterns.
5. Silver jewelry design. One of the things the students like best is shaping, embossing, burning and polishing unique pendants or earrings in pure silver.
6. Denominations. How to paint a picture in only one color? By adding small amounts of black and white, we create a value palette that brings out good depth in an image.
7. Cyanotype. An exciting process where we place a treated sheet in the sun and get a print in shades of blue.
8. Woodwork. After training in miter saws and fence saws, band saws, sanding machines, drills and drills, we work with a variety of small carpentry.
9. Image analysis. On the pre-Christmas trip to Copenhagen, we visit Denmark's National Museum, SMFK, and learn to interpret how the artist conveys a message in great masterpieces.
10 Linoleum print. With a knife and printing ink, we create a series of rough images in many colours.
And suddenly autumn is over, and it's time for the Christmas workshop...
