Last major highlight

The last major highlight of the year was interrail through Europe – where it is possible to "pick countries" on the way from Split in Croatia to Berlin in Germany.

The tour started together in the historic city of Split on the coast of Croatia towards the Adriatic Sea. Here the walls from Emperor Diocletian's palace from 1300 years ago still stand and surround the historic center with narrow alleys, cobblestone streets and small cozy squares.

There are also fantastic views of the city and harbor from Marjan Hill, and not least gelato!

The first day was spent exploring the city, eating together, and watching the sunset from a height. Some even managed to go swimming!

Further in groups

From Split the trip continued in groups. The lines have spent a lot of time planning the itinerary and budgeting. All accommodation and transport are booked and ready, and the groups have arranged everything themselves.

Several groups first went to Zadar to experience more of the Croatian coast and the famous Sea Organ. Some also went on to the port city of Rijeka and the capital Zagreb.

Ljubljana and Lake Bled

Ljubljana, Slovenia, was on the agenda for most groups. The city is known for its many dragons, the castle that towers over the city, and the colorful, ornate houses in the center.

From Ljubljana, several people also visited the amazing Lake Bled, a lake with an iconic monastery on an island in the middle, and a castle on the cliffs overlooking the sea. A dream location both with and without a camera.

The city of Vienna

Another favorite for many was Vienna. The historic city has it all: shops, museums, street art, cafes, concerts, incredible architecture and stunning castles.

Highlight upon highlight

But the highlights are like pearls on a string in Europe. All the groups visited Prague, where the castle hill overlooking the historic center is just the beginning of everything there is to see. There is also the famous Charles Bridge where Depeche Mode took their iconic photo in 1988 and made a piece of music history.

The astronomical clock, the gunpowder tower and the chimney cake with soft ice cream should also be mentioned!

Side quest to Poland

One of the groups also visited Wroclaw, one of Poland's largest and oldest cities, known for its colorful squares, parks and churches.

Ending in Berlin

After a week of traveling in groups, everyone finally met in Berlin for a joint closing with a photo museum, jazz club, the Berlin Wall/East Side Gallery, the Holocaust Memorial and of course the Brandenburg Gate.

One group even arrived earlier to see Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

The trip has given the students valuable skills in travel planning, budgeting and booking accommodation and transport. They have seen a number of countries, even more cities and have travelled by train, bus, tram, boat and taxi. They have found hotels, hostels and apartments, checked in and out, cooked, eaten out and taken care of themselves and the group along the way.

That way you will have experiences and memories to last a lifetime – and not least fantastic inspiration and fantastic photos!
