Photo flies!

We took the camera to Øksnafallene outside Elverum to take pictures and play with Photoshop.

Levitation is all about making things fly, and it's a perfect project to start learning Photoshop - although new AI tools allow you to get the same effect right in the RAW file.

The technique is simple in theory: stand or lie on a chair, and then remove the chair with Photoshop. The difficult thing is to make the movements look believable, and to edit without being able to find "mistakes" that reveal you, even if the image is obviously manipulated.

Without AI

Take a picture of a blank background. With exactly the same section, take a picture of the model floating using a chair, stool or similar.

Load both images on top of each other in Photoshop, and erase the chair so that the empty layer appears behind and perfectly covers the hole where you have erased.

If you want to take it a step further, you can cut out the model completely from the background. Then you can place it anywhere in the image...

With AI

Now you don't need a blank background. Take a picture of the model hovering with the help of… something. When editing, use Generative remove to remove whatever helps the model fly.

To sell the effect extra, you can add other objects that float around, make gaping holes in the ground or let your creativity run wild. There have never been any limits to what you can achieve in Photoshop, but with AI it just gets easier and easier!
