Is it possible to capture a Copenhagen trip in 36 photos?
The task is actually quite simple: take 36 photos in Copenhagen…
When we are on a study trip we often take thousands of photos without bothering, but this time it is different. Everyone has been given an analog black-and-white film and an old camera. There are 36 photos on the film. There is no display on the camera to check the results. We will see how the photos turn out when we get back. If nothing goes wrong on the way then…
It gives me a little extra tingle in my stomach. Every picture becomes more valuable. My gaze becomes a little sharper, and I compose the picture a little better before I take the picture. There is a lot to take away from analog to digital photography…
...and of course, you are allowed to shoot digitally on the trip. The more cameras, the better!
Denmark is known for its "hygge", and we can feel that on our trip. There are pleasant streets with nice cobblestones, pleasant colors, pleasant Christmas markets and pleasant people – as long as you don't walk in the bike lane.
We stroll around the city and experience what it has to offer, from the Glyptoteket – with its fantastic sculptures, paintings, columns, palm trees and mummies(!!) – to the Planetarium, Christiania and a guided tour by canal boat.
We visit the conceptual exhibitions of Ikono, which are a series of spaces designed to inspire creativity and play. They are certainly perfect for photography.

Panoramic view
The spiral tower at the Church of Our Saviour is also a must-see in Copenhagen. 400 steps above ground – the last ones on the outside of the tower – give you a panoramic view of the entire city.
We also get to see a blues concert at the tiny pub Mojo. Denmark's only stage with live music every single day, even on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
A roller coaster ride
We end the trip by checking out the Danish crown jewels. Not the one on display at Rosenborg Castle, but Tivoli, decorated for Christmas and full of lights, screams and laughter. We run from carousel to carousel and try to keep the dinner buffet where it should be…
For anyone considering a pre-Christmas trip to Copenhagen. We give it 10/10! When we also get home, develop the films and have pictures of everyone, we can take the weekend with a clear conscience – and look forward to developing paper photos next week!
