Varied line week for Africa - Aid/Culture
Assistance, animals and value choices.
The second line week started with a trip to Kristiansand. We were lucky enough to be able to spend the night privately with Tonette in beautiful Homborsund, so the first evening was cooking (read Taco) and group work with value choices and drama games.
On Tuesday we visited Mercy Ships in Kristiansand. This is an aid organization with Surgery against poverty as its main slogan. Easy and be impressed by the work, and a good alternative to get involved in voluntary work for young people. More HERE!
After two hours of Live-Kristiansand, it was ready for a separate event in Dyreparken. Close to giraffes, meerkats and snakes and good information about the zoo's philosophy. Something that was followed up with two great documentaries from the BBC about the animals' drives and life in the Serengeti.
After another good evening and night in Homborsund, there was a longer visit at The Strømmestiftelsen at Tangen in Kristiansand. Once again, we were impressed by the efforts of an aid organization that fights poverty.
On Thursday and Friday we were in a playful mood with observation toys and animal creations in plasticine. After lunch there was a visit to the old people in Venn in everyday life, and this time we made our debut with frying waffles at Moen Aldersjjem. In addition, we rounded off the work with South Africa/Namibia and Apartheid with the story of Nelson Mandela and his jailer in the film Farewell Bafana.
On Saturday, we were visited by 12 young refugees from our KOMPIS project. All credit to the African team for that day. Good chat, lots of games and a good atmosphere. Only a shout out to Geir, who forgot to order extra food!
