Lamu paradise in the Indian Ocean.
Africa welcomed by donkeys and very nice Muslims
After a short night in Nairobi we flew with Jambo Jets propeller plane out to Manda Airstrip where we were welcomed by Swaleh and Munibo who will be our hosts for 16 days. Many exciting cultural differences await us in the next few days. After just two days we have become fond of the Swahili cuisine and we have helped make Japati, Samosa and Bhajia.

One of the most beautiful and peaceful things on the paradise island is to experience Sunset sailing where we literally sail into the sunset and can break the fast together with the locals (It's Ramadan and the sunset is the starting point).

Also unfamiliar with the call to prayer 5 times a day starting in all five mosques at 0515. Not to mention the first meeting with Lamu Town which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. And the classic Dhows take us around, but most of all the newer wooden boats from Mozambique. And an evening walk on the beach under a full moon is manna for the soul.

Tomorrow we will learn more about Lamu City and on Sunday we will hunt for tuna, catfish and swim with dolphins. A great start to the car-free paradise island.
