Happy New Year!
an exciting spring for Africa B/K awaits
VOLUNTARY WORK: Next week, 12 students from the school year 22/23 travel down to Kasese to work voluntarily for 3 months or more. From autumn you can also do that. Whether you are a student this year or if you want to apply to Elverum Folkehøgskole and learn more about good assistance. Emilie and Sofie have already been there since 3 October and worked on exciting projects at the schools and at the time of writing they have a well-deserved holiday in Zanzibar.
TRIP TO UGANDA: We are traveling to Uganda (Kasese) and to Kenya (Lamu) on March 4. Then we will finally experience how collected funds are used, see how the different ones the projects works. We will learn and experience more of this lush country - with over 45 million inhabitants - the wonderful nature, wildlife and an enormous cultural diversity. Not to mention getting to know a very hospitable environment in Kasese, with distinctive food and clothing culture, experiencing contrasts in size XXL, experiencing the everyday life of a kingdom in a republic(!). Not to forget the huge number of eye-catching photo objects...everywhere. And there will be no less of that when we travel on to the exotic island of Lamu in the Indian Ocean. A car-free island with donkeys as a means of transport, and a Swahili culture that you just HAVE to fall in love with. But before we go on a trip, there will be a small SWAHILI COURSE!
LECTURE CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS: After the trip, we travel around to primary schools in Elverum with lectures (photos/film) from the aid projects. This is so that the pupils will have a close relationship with what they collected money for in the autumnActive for Others
LINE WEEKS: After an exciting Theme Week-Rare Eventyr-we will continue to include young refugees in Elverum. In collaboration with the Red Cross, there will be various activities and gatherings where we take responsibility and the Red Cross provides funds. In addition, we visit our good partner Romerrike FHS and see some of the fantastic performances they put on. THE ROSE CASTLE we also visit in April/May and to the newly opened peace centre. We will also collaborate with the Norwegian Armed Forces - as we did in December - and participate as markers and contribute with realistic role plays.
