The safari of the ages!

Leopard and lion on display

With our long-time friend and guide Baluku we left the hotel at 630 and it all started gently with various antelopes, water buffalo, colorful birds a short stop in Kasinjy and in the fishing village of Katwe. Among other things, with a wonderful fish reception and a Reodor Rim of dimensions: Slipsstein on two wheels. All that was missing was for him to hum the Slipsstein Waltz!

Then we went to a 3-course luxury lunch at Mweya Lodge, and then the contrasts become great. Lovely food and a trip in the pool cemented it. Then it was time for a two-hour boat safari on the Kazinga Channel between Lake George and Lake Edward (mostly in Congo). Young, skilled guides showed and told about the Crocodiles, Monitor Lizard, Hippos, Water Buffaloes, Bald Eagle, more bird species than in Norway combined and of course both the African Elephant and the Forest Elephant.

It seems like it thrived as a photo subject.

But it wasn't until the trip home that it took off. First, an abrupt stop for the very shy Leopard. I haven't seen it this beautiful in 25 years (although the picture was a bit blurry). Follow the school and students' Instagram - they get better there!

Then the baboons sat down on the roadside and greeted each other and engaged in some obscene acts.

…..to be continued

Then came the news that three lions were waiting for us and some other guests in Queen Elizabeth National Park. But before we got there we had to pass through a herd of about twenty elephants (including a couple of baby elephants - only a few weeks old). The pumbaas (warthogs) tried to get attention, a herd of Waterbuck blocked the way, the Guinea fowl put on their own show but the target was clear: Lions. And finally we got to see them. It was getting so late that we had to postpone the photo shoot at the Equator until Friday.

Okay, a little blurry! But it's one of 3 lions. Word of honor!
