Active for Others
or Africa for Africa
On Wednesday and Thursday this week, Afrika-Bistand/Kultur has brought the entire folk college with it to organize Aktiv for Others - where over 1500 students from seven primary schools in Elverum municipality will come to us for a rich day of activities. The main part is 60 minutes of running in a circular course - where the students have arranged their own sponsors with an amount per round they complete.
Afrika-Bistand/Kultur was responsible for warming up from the stage with a joint dance to Waka Waka with Shakira. A natural choice.
But before this, Afrika, together with Norwegian-Culture & Adventure, had started frying waffles, cut fruit and vegetables and made six serving stations for the children so that when the break started after an hour's running, everything was ready in the canteen. Then it was also ready for the photo studio, face painting, handball and football activities, darts, boggia, badminton, diablo, stiff witch and basketball to name a few of the over twenty offers around our school. There was also a separate concert with the Musikkgjängen.
It was sold for over NOK 45000 in the outdoor cantina and that is impressive as we know that everything cost NOK 10 and that it was open for 3 hours. Together with the money received, this will be a very important source for this year's investment Case in Uganda
In the spring, Afrika-Bistand/Kultur will travel to the schools that have supported our projects on Wednesday and Thursday to show how the money they received was used.
After a long and good break, Musikklinja ended with Hold the Line by Toto and Afrika repeated the success warm-up before everyone ran the BONUS LAP (four times around our main building) The first report is that the 7th grade at one of the schools ran a total of 382 laps in a long course, while the 1st stage managed 395 rounds in the short. Impressive!
